How to give location by coordinates ( SLD99+ or WGS84).

INTRODUCTION

Android is becoming a successful mobile operating system (OS) with growing popularity. Most android devices have inbuilt GPS receivers.  CTDroid with many capabilities including coordinate transformation was made available to Android community as a free tool via Google Play (Alahakoon, 2014). Maps.me (styled as 'MAPS.ME') (formerly named MapsWithMe) is a mobile app for Android, iOS and BlackBerry that provides offline maps using OpenStreetMap data (Wikipedia).

APPLICATIONS: 

When we need to find a location by coordinates this two apps are very helpful. Maps.me app is offline open source app. It help us to use without data. I have an experience, when I was doing a survey I had to go some location. I had not compass or map. in the jungle there can't be find any kind of land marks on even online maps. So what I did is, I enter the grid coordinates to CTDroid and convert it into WGS84 and put it in to MAPS.ME. After that I reached my place. That is really easy.   

HOW TO DO?

1. Go to CTDroid app.

2. To enter the grid values unclick the 'Geographic to Projected'.

3. Enter the values for Grid X and Y.
4. Click on 'Transform'.

• Now you can get the lat and lon values of grid X and Y.

5. Go to maps.me app.

6. Select the search icon.

6. Enter the values of as 'latitude, longitude ' values what you got in CTDroid.

7. Now you can see the high lighted point. That is the location what we searched. Click on the 'save tab'.

8.Now it has save as a bookmark.

9. Edit it as you want.

10. You can see there are number of bookmarks available on my map. Those are some important survey locations what I used in my previous surveying jobs.

• When you select one location, you can see bottom right side in blue color, app's gives the distance and direction related to present location. present location shows as arrow head.  

11. If click on start you will get the most suitable way to reach the location. But in the jungle there can't find roads. I used in my experience is, the details which I described above step.
